Okay all mi amigos and amigas in the internet highway. I have to say, I feel like I have been awakened by 2 amazing bands in Minnesota. I have been craving something fresh and inspiring, and I finally found it. These 2 bands are listed above. First I will talk about Face First. I am friends with the lead singer, Shawn Peters, who is a talented vocalist that I had the luxury of supporting in Wyzr Tyme, which was heavily influenced by The Black Crowes at the time. He has always been an amazing singer in my book. We lost touch over the years but recently reconnected. We have been getting together and jamming once per week on Guitars. Well, I sure had a treat tonight when I got to see him perform with his band. I mean, none of these guys have huge ego's or bad energy, which alot of artists suffer from in Minnesota. I mean, it has become such a nuisance to hang out in the Minneapolis music scene because people are filled with self centered and arrogant energy. I almost was getting to the point where I didn't even want to go out and see live shows because of that immature attitude in the scene. It was very refreshing to hear a band that isn't pretentious. They are all just so nice that you can't help but walk away with a new positive energy and optimistic vision. I saw them tonight at Dixie's on Grand. I am floored!! I mean, they are so darn good it humbles you and reminds you of what is important. These 2 guitar players are so tasteful and energetic. Usually you get 2 guitar players and they want to battle, but these guys blend so well together. The drummer was so solid that t felt like he had an automatic and internal metronome. The vocal harmonies are just beautiful. I mean, Shawn really is an outstanding singer and I feel lucky to even be considered his friend. They had Steve Clark on Sax, flute, and a few other wind instruments. This guy just finished recording with Ringo Starr and has many sessions under his belt. The whole band is seasoned. I am definately going to be following this group from this day forward.
